Belonging Ecosystems – Education Fellowship

Re-Imagining Migration aims to transform the educational ecosystem to ensure that
immigrant-origin youth, their peers, and the communities in which they inhabit flourish in a global society increasingly shaped by migration and demographic diversification. By harnessing the power of schools, museums, and other informal learning environments, we create learning experiences that cultivate a sense of belonging and understanding while promoting life-long dispositions that enable young people to thrive.
We are seeking highly skilled and passionate Educational Fellows to join our team. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to build out a transformative community and school-based ecosystem that empowers educators and communities to create inclusive environments where every student feels a sense of belonging. The stipend for this education fellowship is $1,500 for the year, with opportunities for additional financial support.
Role Overview:
This education fellowship focuses on building relationships with school districts, educators, community organizations, and stakeholders to foster belonging in schools and communities. In the first year, the primary responsibility will be developing a comprehensive community plan in collaboration with Re-Imagining Migration while also working closely with fundraisers to secure funding for the implementation of their plan.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing a detailed local plan that outlines strategies for fostering belonging in schools and communities.
- Conducting needs assessments and gathering input from educators, students, parents, and community organizations to inform the plan.
- Mapping community assets and identifying potential partnerships with local cultural institutions, nonprofits, and civic organizations.
- Collaborating with Re-Imagining Migration to align the plan with the overall project goals and framework.
- Working with the Re-Imagining Migration Development Officers to create compelling funding proposals and secure the necessary resources to implement the plan.
- Acting as a regional ambassador to promote the project’s vision and build support among local stakeholders and potential funders.
- Capturing the story of your ecosystem work so that it may be replicated and scaled by others.

Additional Optional Funding Opportunities
- Conference Representation Compensation:
- $300 for Re-Imagining Migration conference representation, plus travel and registration fees
- Publication Contributions Compensation:
- $250 per article published in an educational press
- Professional Development Facilitation:
- Additional compensation from contracts for delivering RM PD
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in education, with a focus on creating inclusive, academically rigorous spaces for young people of all backgrounds to belong and thrive.
- Proven experience in presenting at conferences or leading professional development sessions.
- Strong writing skills with a track record of publications in blogs, essays, or educational materials.
- Familiarity with educational standards and best practices.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and contribute to collaborative content creation.
- Attend Re-Imagining Migration’s July 2025 three-day summer training retreat (all costs are covered) or have equivalent experience with the organizaiton.

- Tell us about yourself and your commitment to creating enriching environments for all students.

Candidates will be contacted for interviews by February 26th. Selected education fellows will be informed by March 3rd and invited to an RM education fellow training retreat in mid-July.
