Migration is the throughline of the human experience — fundamental to life on this planet.
Re-Imagining Migration builds the civic and educational infrastructure that lets immigrant-origin youth, their peers, and the communities around them belong — not as an exception, but as a standard every school, museum, and community organization can meet.
We build belonging through the infrastructure we already have.
We don't start from scratch. We take the civic and educational infrastructure already in place — schools, families, communities — shift its norms, and use it to build the dispositions this moment requires.
01
Start with what exists
The schools, families, and community institutions already in every young person's life.
02
Change the norms
Make belonging an expectation of how that infrastructure operates — not an add-on.
03
Build the dispositions we need now
The capacity to live, learn, and govern together across difference.
Grounded in the Re-Imagining Migration framework, developed with Project Zero at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and research from scholars including Linda Tropp and Robert Putnam.
One year, measurable growth.
In its first year, the National Belonging Leaders Fellowship brought together 15 educators across 13 states — including educational leaders rural, suburban, and urban communities in Texas, Kentucky, Washington, Massachussettes, Michigan, Illinois and Indiana,.
2.51 → 4.54
an 80% growth in preparedness (5-point scale), with no fellow regressing
100%
of fellows translated that growth into action — reaching nearly 1,036 students, families, and educators
93%
point to the fellowship's cohort model as what keeps that growth alive in their schools
"The retreat didn't give me new information. It gave me new eyes."
