Teaching Anything for Selena

Anything for Selena is a powerful podcast about belonging told through an exploration of the impact of Selena Quintanilla on the podcast host Maria Garcia, millions of Mexicans and Mexican Americans, and on American culture. For educators, the podcast can be used to explore issues of identity, belonging, and the U.S./Mexican border. The guide is structured around three guiding questions:

  1. What does it take for people to feel at home in their identity and their community?

  2. What role do images in media play in the way we develop our identities?

  3. How does seeing our stories represented publicly impact how we see ourselves?
