Moving Stories Campaign Sample Questions

What are Moving Stories?: At Re-Imagining Migration, we believe that migration is an experience that everyone shares somewhere in their family history. Whether it is recent or generations ago, within or across borders, across town or across the world, by choice or through force, for a better life or for refuge: everyone has a migration story. Reflecting upon our Moving Stories, listening to one another explore, relating to those experiences, and learning from those narratives is a powerful way to find common ground.

Who is Re-Imagining Migration? Re-Imagining Migration is a non-profit educational organization championing immigrant-origin youth in schools and society. Our mission is to advance the education and well-being of immigrant-origin youth, decrease bias and hatred against young people of diverse origins, and help rising generations develop the critical understanding necessary to build and sustain welcoming and inclusive communities. Find out more at www.reimaginingmigration.org.

What’s the goal?: To encourage and create dialogue about our shared history in ways that promote empathy, reflection, and understanding.

How can I participate?: There are no barriers to participation. We encourage people to participate on equal footing, instead of asking one person to tell a story, we ask that you connect in pairs, allowing each person time to respond to a set of interview questions about their experiences or their family experiences. You could pair up with a friend, colleague, or family member. On the flyer attached below, we have provided four questions you can use as prompts to begin the interviews.
