Sanat Karkat grew up in New York as a first-generation daughter of Palestinian immigrants who came to this country in the late 1970s. Sanaat created UPROAR, as a speaking agency for Muslim women.

Sanat explains, “I noticed a huge need for Muslim women speakers in various sectors and I also found that there wasn’t a proper platform to find them. So I made one! With UPROAR we work towards getting Muslim women the opportunities they deserve, and the compensation they deserve. There are way too many #Manals out there (male panels), it’s time we take more space and more mic time.”
